The Red Bull Formula 1 team has officially lodged a protest against George Russell with the FIA race stewards following the Canadian Grand Prix. In the race, Russell and Max Verstappen secured first and second place respectively, with Russell clinching his first victory of the 2025 season from pole position. The race concluded under a safety car due to a late collision involving McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, causing debris on the track. Verstappen expressed frustration towards Russell during the safety car period, claiming Russell’s driving tactics were questionable. Despite the matter not being addressed in post-race interviews, Red Bull proceeded with the protest against Russell, likely related to the safety car incident. Both teams and drivers met with the stewards at 17:50 local time in Montreal to discuss the issue.
