The Alpine Formula 1 team is planning to announce Steve Nielsen as the new team manager, following his extensive experience in the paddock.
Nielsen, a veteran in the field at 60 years old, started his F1 career as a truck driver for a catering firm in 1986, gradually progressing through various roles with respected teams such as Lotus, Tyrrell, and Benetton.
Having worked closely with Flavio Briatore during his time at Benetton, Nielsen is known for his expertise and professionalism in the sport.
Briatore, now executive advisor for Alpine F1, sought Nielsen to replace Ollie Oakes after a surprising departure post-Miami Grand Prix.
Nielsen’s appointment is expected to mirror a team principal’s role and report directly to Briatore, adding to his already impressive resume in Formula 1 leadership positions.
