George Russell: Canadian GP pole “one of the most exhilarating laps of my life”

George Russell expressed his excitement about securing pole position for the Canadian Grand Prix and described it as one of the most thrilling laps in his racing career.

He managed to snatch pole position from Max Verstappen in the final moments of qualifying, setting a gap of 0.16 seconds between them on the front row of the grid.

Despite a slight setback in FP3, Russell’s switch to medium tires in Q3 significantly improved his performance, resulting in a final lap time six-tenths faster than his previous attempt.

Russell was delighted with his performance and the support from the crowd, and expressed his satisfaction with the unexpected pole position.

Max Verstappen, who secured second on the grid, was content with the team’s progress in addressing braking issues and expressed optimism for a strong race performance on race day.
