Nick Tandy, alongside teammates Felipe Nasr and Laurens Vanthoor, is aiming to achieve the triple crown of endurance racing by winning at Daytona, Sebring, and potentially Le Mans in a single calendar year. Despite this historic opportunity, Tandy emphasizes that the focus remains on each race individually, with Le Mans being the pinnacle event in motorsport. Winning Le Mans is a standalone achievement, and the team’s preparation and approach will not change due to the potential triple crown accolade.
Tandy’s previous victories at major endurance races, such as Daytona, have made him appreciate the significance of these achievements in hindsight. He values staying present in the moment and giving his best effort at every race, recognizing the importance of each event in itself. The team’s preparation for Le Mans, particularly with the Porsche Penske Motorsport 963 entry, has been smoother this year, benefiting from prior experience with the car at the iconic race.
While there is pressure racing for a brand like Porsche at Le Mans, Tandy acknowledges the expectations to perform well and compete at the front. Despite the competition from dominant teams like Ferrari in WEC, Tandy remains confident in Porsche’s capabilities at Le Mans and is prepared to give his all for a successful race.
