Unveiled: Ford’s High-Octane Vision for the 2027 WEC LMDh Challenger

Ford has appointed ORECA as chassis partner for its return to top-tier sportscar racing in the 2027 World Endurance Championship and provided more details about its LMDh programme, including a partnership with Red Bull Powertrains.

This move marks Ford’s first full factory bid for Le Mans 24 Hours glory in over 40 years, with ORECA’s experience in supplying chassis for Acura and Alpine LMDh cars being a key factor in the partnership.

Red Bull Powertrains programme director Dan Sayers will lead Ford’s Hypercar operation, bringing his expertise from the F1 engine development project that received factory support from Ford.

The CEO of Ford, Jim Farley, expressed confidence in the partnership with ORECA and the company’s aim to challenge top-class teams like Ferrari at Le Mans in 2027.

Ford Performance aims to recapture past Le Mans success and has laid a solid foundation with the agreements made with ORECA and Dan Sayers for the upcoming WEC Hypercar programme.
