Surviving the Crash: Iron Lynx Overcomes Adversity with Mercedes Chassis Change at Le Mans

The Iron Lynx team had to change the chassis on its #63 Mercedes-AMG LMGT3 after a significant crash during the opening practice of the Le Mans 24 Hours due to Stephen Grove.

The crash occurred at the Dunlop Chicane about 75 minutes into the session, causing the Mercedes to miss Wednesday’s qualifying and the night-time FP2 session.

The heavy front-end damage necessitated a chassis change to the one used in the European Le Mans Series.

The repair work was successful, allowing the #63 car, shared by Grove, Brenton Grove, and Luca Stolz, to participate in Thursday’s FP3.

Grove Sr attributed the crash to being caught off-guard by the hot conditions and pushing a bit too aggressively.

Despite some challenges, the team remained optimistic, with one Mercedes making it to Hyperpole for the first time in the 2025 WEC season, driven by Lin Hodenius in the #61 car, which was the 11th quickest.
