Equipe Silverstone highlights: Willmott wins Healey battle and Wolf howls

Equipe Classic Racing hosted its annual summer meeting at Silverstone last weekend, featuring over 400 cars in competition, with a special grid of Austin-Healeys among the highlights.

Joe Wilmott secured a win in the Syd Segal Trophy, outmaneuvering Ollie and Jack Chatham in the final laps to claim victory and leave the Chatham brothers disappointed.

Jack Chatham, starting on pole in an Austin-Healey 3000, fell behind Jaap Sinke early on but battled back, ultimately overtaking Sinke and engaging in a thrilling duel with Wilmott throughout the race.

Wilmott’s strategic pit stop, timed perfectly as Chatham brothers pitted earlier, allowed him to emerge in the lead with a solid gap, ensuring his victory despite Ollie Chatham’s late charge.

John Dickson’s Ferrari 308 GTB stood out as a star car at the event, praised for its smooth V8 engine and refined driving experience by the experienced racer.

Dickson’s meticulous restoration and conversion of the Ferrari to Group 4 specification showcased his dedication to preserving and racing this unique piece of automotive history.
