Sebastien Ogier remains in the lead of Rally Italy Sardinia, having briefly lost his advantage to Adrien Fourmaux in the dust; however, Fourmaux’s victory bid in the World Rally Championship ultimately failed. After extending his lead to 7.4s, Ogier encountered drama on stage 8, resulting from a puncture for Fourmaux after hitting an unexpected rock. Despite a two-minute wheel change, Fourmaux struggled with visibility due to dust, allowing Ott Tanak to take over the lead temporarily. Following an appeal, rally organisers adjusted Ogier’s time, putting him back in the lead with a 15.0s advantage over Tanak. Kalle Rovanpera moved into third place, benefitting from Fourmaux’s misfortune, while Sami Pajari maintained fourth despite some challenges on stage nine. Adrien Fourmaux’s day worsened with an off-road incident, dropping him to ninth overall, significantly behind Ogier. Thierry Neuville and the M-Sport duo of McErlean and Munster made a comeback, with Munster facing brake issues on Saturday morning. The crews will repeat the stages in the afternoon to conclude Saturday’s action in the rally.
