Jonathan Wheatley, the boss of the Sauber F1 team, expressed relief over Nico Hulkenberg’s unexpected fifth-place finish at the Spanish GP, stating it’s a result of the team’s successful upgrades.
Despite scoring points in the season opener in Australia, Sauber struggled to keep up with the tight midfield competition until the recent race in Barcelona.
The team introduced significant upgrades to their car, witnessing promising performances from Hulkenberg and rookie team-mate Gabriel Bortoleto during qualifying.
Hulkenberg’s impressive race performance helped him secure a remarkable fifth place after starting in 16th position, showcasing Sauber’s progress.
Wheatley emphasized the team’s hard work and passion, expressing satisfaction with the upgraded car’s performance and hopeful to consistently fight for points in the midfield battles.
