Despite initial reluctance, Verstappen eventually gave back the position to Russell under protest. The race ultimately ended in a 10-second penalty and three penalty points for Verstappen, nearing a potential race ban. Marko acknowledged the complexities of the situation, emphasizing that emotions got the better of Verstappen, who later issued an apology for his actions on social media.
