Controversy Unresolved: Leclerc-Verstappen Clash at F1 Spanish GP Goes Unpunished

The FIA race stewards did not penalize Charles Leclerc for his contact with Max Verstappen during the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix, allowing Leclerc to keep his podium finish. Verstappen’s oversteer moment on a safety car restart in lap 61 created an opportunity for Leclerc to overtake him, with both drivers making slight contact while racing side by side. Despite Verstappen’s belief that Leclerc should have been penalized, the stewards deemed it a racing incident with neither driver being predominantly at fault. Verstappen was ultimately penalized for colliding with George Russell, finishing 10th, while Leclerc secured third place behind Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. Verstappen received three penalty points, putting him close to a race ban before the Austrian Grand Prix at the end of June.
