McLaren driver Oscar Piastri was the fastest in Friday’s second practice session at the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona, taking the lead from Mercedes’ George Russell with a time of 1m12.760s.
Lando Norris initially led the session before Russell and Piastri set faster times, with Norris, Verstappen, and Piastri closely matched behind the leaders.
Piastri’s time remained unbeaten for the rest of the session as teams focused on long runs in preparation for the race.
Russell finished second, followed closely by Verstappen and Norris, while Charles Leclerc rounded out the top five for Ferrari.
The track action will resume on Saturday with final practice before qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix.
