TNT MotoGP presenters and pundits Michael Laverty, Neil Hodgson, and Suzi Perry believe Francesco Bagnaia may struggle to win this year’s championship, with Alex Marquez emerging as the closest competitor to current leader Marc Marquez.
Marc Marquez, a two-time MotoGP champion, has faced challenges this season, including a weekend without points in France and a retirement at the British GP in Silverstone, placing him third in the standings behind Alex Marquez and significantly behind his brother.
Hodgson noted before the British GP that Marc Marquez has been even more dominant than expected, despite a few errors, putting pressure on Bagnaia to improve and match his teammate’s performance.
Laverty expressed doubts about Bagnaia’s ability to catch up to Marc Marquez, acknowledging Alex Marquez as a strong contender, while Perry was more optimistic about Bagnaia but still considered it unlikely for him to win the championship.
Alex Marquez’s impressive performances, including his first MotoGP win in Jerez and consistent podium finishes, have made him a standout performer this season, with the potential to capitalize on any mistakes made by Marc Marquez.
