McLaren’s Lando Norris secured pole position at the F1 Monaco Grand Prix ahead of Charles Leclerc, with Mercedes facing a qualifying disaster.
Norris set a new track record with a stunning 1m09.954s lap, claiming his first pole since the Australian Grand Prix.
Behind Norris and Leclerc, Oscar Piastri took third on the grid, while Lewis Hamilton qualified fourth for Ferrari.
Max Verstappen could only manage fifth for Red Bull, with Isack Hadjar impressively placing sixth for Racing Bulls.
Nico Hulkenberg and the Mercedes duo faced elimination, setting the stage for an exciting 78-lap race on Sunday with mandatory three tire changes.
