The No. 2 Team Penske Chevrolet team of Josef Newgarden won the Pit Stop Challenge, earning $50,000 and bragging rights. They faced off against their own teammates, the No. 12 Team Penske Chevrolet of Will Power, in the final. This marked the first time two Penske cars made it to the final in the Pit Stop Challenge since 2007.
To reach the final, Newgarden had to defeat Pato O’Ward from Arrow McLaren, whom he also bested in last year’s Indianapolis 500. Meanwhile, Power’s team had to outperform Scott Dixon and the Chip Ganassi Racing team.
In the final, Newgarden’s team won two out of three rounds, ultimately clinching the victory. Newgarden praised his pit crew as essential to their success, expressing gratitude for their hard work and dedication. Both Newgarden and Power will start at the back of the field in the Indy 500 due to a Penske attenuator controversy, relying on their speedy pit crews to make up ground during the race.
