Hyundai Racing Director Remains Hopeful for Fourth WRC Car Debut in 2025

Hyundai performed well in Portugal, but will delay the decision to run a fourth car until being satisfied with the enhanced World Rally Championship challenger’s performance. The team showed improvement after a tough defeat in the Canary Islands, challenging Toyota in Portugal. The upgraded i20 N performed strongly on gravel, with Ott Tanak and Adrien Fourmaux leading before facing technical issues. Team principal Cyril Abiteboul praised the team’s competitiveness and Ott’s performance, acknowledging the missed opportunity for victory due to reliability issues. Hyundai considers adding a fourth car to its lineup, potentially driven by long-time servant Dani Sordo, to match Toyota’s expanded five-car effort. Abiteboul emphasized the need to evaluate resource allocation before making a final decision on expanding the team’s roster.
