Iron Lynx, the Mercedes World Endurance Championship squad, will showcase a special livery at this year’s Le Mans 24 Hours to commemorate Mercedes’ triumphant 1989 victory at the endurance race. The team will adorn its three Mercedes GT3s in the iconic Silver Arrows scheme used in the manufacturer’s dominant 1-2 finish at Circuit de la Sarthe. This unique design honors Mercedes’ return to Le Mans after a 26-year hiatus, marking their debut in the WEC in 2025 following Iron Lynx’s switch from Lamborghini to Mercedes. Iron Lynx CEO Andrea Piccini expressed immense gratitude for partnering with Mercedes-AMG in this initiative. The 1989 Le Mans victory holds special significance for Mercedes, as they are set to relive the historic moment with the special Silver Arrow-inspired livery on the three Mercedes-AMG LMGT3s. Mercedes’ sporadic history at Le Mans post-1989 includes the ill-fated 1999 race when their CLRs faced unfortunate incidents, leading to the withdrawal of a car after a crash and another car landing in the trees. Despite these challenges, Mercedes continues its legacy at Le Mans as Iron Lynx enters the race with no points in the 2025 WEC campaign’s opening rounds.
