Toyota has confirmed Brad Jones Racing as its second Supercars team for 2026, joining Walkinshaw Andretti United as the brand’s homologation team. BJR, based in Albury, New South Wales, currently runs Chevrolet Camaros but will switch to fielding four GR Supras next season, bringing the total number of Toyotas on the grid to six. Speculation had been high regarding which team would partner with WAU to run the Supras, with initial expectations on Team 18, but recent developments have solidified BJR’s alliance with Toyota.
Other teams expected to stick with GM include PremiAir Racing, Erebus Motorsport, and Matt Stone Racing, maintaining a lineup of eight Camaros alongside 10 Ford Mustangs in the 2026 season. BJR owner Brad Jones expressed excitement for the new challenge and recognized the need for hard work to establish the team’s position on the grid. The team’s driver lineup may see changes ahead of 2026, particularly with Jones himself possibly being vulnerable to replacement should Toyota opt for a high-profile signing, given his performance history in the championship.
Despite Jones’ best personal qualifying result and finish in the recent Supercars race at Symmons Plains, the focus remains on preparing a GR Supra prototype for testing later in the year for Walkinshaw Andretti United. The 2025 Supercars season will proceed with multiple races this weekend at Symmons Plains as the sport continues to evolve for the upcoming 2026 season.
