Honda Celebrates Major Achievement with Aston Martin Milestone

It has been a highly challenging start to the season for Aston Martin and Honda.

Honda’s F1 chief engineer, Shintaro Orihara, considers Fernando Alonso’s completion of the Japanese Grand Prix as a positive development for the project. The Aston Martin-Honda partnership faced early challenges due to reliability issues with the Honda power unit during pre-season testing. Alonso had to retire from the Chinese Grand Prix due to engine vibrations, but successfully finished the race in Japan, marking Aston Martin’s first race finish this year. Orihara highlighted the significance of this achievement for the ongoing project aimed at improvement and stated that they are focusing on enhancing battery deliverability and engine performance. Despite acknowledging that there are no quick fixes to the power unit, Orihara emphasized their continuous efforts to enhance engine performance, energy management, and overall drivability for the upcoming races, including the one in Miami.
