Formula 1 and Motorsport Network have released the 2025 Global F1 Fan Survey, a comprehensive study capturing the evolving fan engagement trends across the series worldwide. The study, based on over 100,000 responses from highly engaged fans in 186 countries, reveals a shifting demographic towards a younger and more female audience, with growing interest in markets like the US.
Fans are drawn to Formula 1 by its diverse range of stories and engagement opportunities, staying for the speed, strategy, and spectacle of the sport. Stefano Domenicali, Formula 1’s president and CEO, emphasizes the importance of fans following the sport for its engaging stories and fantastic racing experience, which are essential in attracting new enthusiasts.
As noted by Werner Brell, CEO of Motorsport Network, the survey signals a transformative era for F1 driven by Gen Z, women, and US fans, highlighting the need to cater to modern fandom preferences and capitalize on commercial opportunities. The findings underline the emotional, participatory nature of modern F1 fandom, as enthusiasts transition from passive viewers to actively engaged participants in the sport’s narrative.
