Red Bull Racing Strategizes Power Play Amid F1 Regulation Uncertainty

Red Bull team principal Laurent Mekies has outlined where he believes RBPT stacks up against rival F1 power units as the paddock anticipates the first ADUO findings from the FIA.

According to Laurent Mekies, Mercedes seems to have gained a significant advantage at the beginning of the latest generation of F1 power units. The FIA has introduced the Additional Development and Upgrade Opportunities (ADUO) program to prevent prolonged engine dominance in the turbo-hybrid era. This program evaluates each manufacturer’s internal combustion engine performance at three points during the season. The first ADUO review took place after the fifth round in Canada on May 24th, and the FIA is expected to disclose its findings within two weeks. The decision from this review could heavily impact Red Bull, which currently holds fourth place in the constructors’ championship. The collaboration between Red Bull and Ford on the power unit project has exceeded expectations, with the possibility that it may not require any enhancements from the initial ADUO results. Mekies highlighted the incredible progress of Red Bull Ford Powertrains, stating the project’s evolution from a back-field initiative at Red Bull Racing to a competitive entity on the grid as nothing short of phenomenal.
