Max Verstappen has been a frequent visitor to the Nurburgring in recent months, and now, Lando Norris and George Russell are following in his footsteps.
Lando Norris and George Russell followed Max Verstappen’s lead by driving at the Nurburgring Nordschleife during a Pirelli tyre test.
McLaren and Mercedes are supporting Pirelli in a two-day dry-tyre test on April 14 and 15, the first F1 action at the Nurburgring in six years.
The test coincides with F1’s five-week break due to the cancellation of races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia for security reasons.
Norris and Russell took the chance to experience the famous Nordschleife, a historic track synonymous with F1 until the tragic events of Niki Lauda’s crash in 1976.
Verstappen, a regular at the Nurburgring, recently won the NLS2 race but was disqualified. He is gearing up for the 24 Hours of the Nurburgring in May.
Both Russell and Norris expressed their delight at driving on the Nordschleife, with Russell hinting at a desire to see a German GP back on the calendar in the future.
