Audi is carrying a big weakness in its package and has not been able to implement changes yet.
Audi boss Mattia Binotto considers improving the team’s launch and start sequences a top priority following harsh feedback from Gabriel Bortoleto after the Japanese GP. Bortoleto, the Brazilian racer, labeled the performance as “terrible” as Audi works on adapting to the new power unit in their debut season. Despite only scoring points in Australia with a ninth place, Bortoleto’s concerns have now become a primary focus for Binotto, who took over from Wheatley in recent times. The team’s lack of time for substantial upgrades in testing and races prior to March has led to a reactive approach rather than a proactive one, prompting urgent action during the April break before the Miami GP. Binotto emphasized the need to address the issue promptly, aiming to enhance their starting performance which has been hindering their results. With some races canceled, Audi can use the break to assess and prepare for the upcoming challenges better, as they strive to become more competitive in the season ahead.
