Aston Martin is currently a firm fifth in the standings, but is far behind where it was at the same stage in the 2023 season.
Aston Martin team boss Mike Krack has emphasized the importance of not giving in to “full destruction mode” despite the challenges faced by the team this year. Despite a strong 2023 season with eight podium finishes and challenging for a top-four spot in the constructors’ championship, Aston Martin has struggled this year, with its best result being Fernando Alonso’s fifth place in Saudi Arabia. The team has faced difficulties in developing the AMR24, prompting Alonso to advocate for upgrades, with Krack and engineering chief Tom McCullough being scrutinized on the matter. The recent Azerbaijan and Singapore GPs provided some relief to the team, with Alonso finishing sixth and eighth, establishing himself as the ‘Class B winner’. Krack has urged the team to focus on improvement, highlighting the significant points gap to the teams ahead and emphasizing the need for self-criticism and acknowledgment of areas needing enhancement.
