Why Abu Dhabi is launching an ambitious new autonomous racing series
The Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League (A2RL) will host driverless races at Yas Marina Formula 1 track using cars from Japan’s Super Formula, capable of speeds over 185mph. The inaugural event on April 27 aims to showcase the advancement of autonomous driving technology. With a $2.25 million prize purse, teams will compete to enhance car speed and intelligence. ASPIRE group, the Advanced Technology Research Council’s program management arm in UAE, spearheads the project for long-term innovation. The A2RL introduces futuristic racing technology blending AI, sensors, and computer innovation to shape mobility’s future.
