Mercedes respond to team ‘absence’ from Hamilton podium celebrations claims
After teammate George Russell crashed on the final lap, Lewis Hamilton celebrated his third-place finish at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix with Ferrari and McLaren mechanics in parc ferme. This prompted some fans to criticize the Mercedes team for not showing support for Hamilton. In response, Mercedes’ technical director, James Allison, explained that some team members had to stay in the garage to receive Russell’s damaged car and that the TV cameras missed their presence at the podium. He emphasized that the team enjoys celebrating with Hamilton and that many team members were indeed present. Allison also mentioned that Russell was devastated by his crash but showed strength of character by personally apologizing to every team member for his mistake.
