Revving Up the Retro: Exclusive F1 Memorabilia Hits the Shelves at Selfridges

American retail magnate Harry Gordon Selfridge aimed to revolutionize the shopping experience at his Oxford Street emporium in 1909, which included displaying the aeroplane of aviation pioneer Louis Bleriot that crossed the English Channel. The flagship Selfridges store is set to host a retail pop-up from 23 June to 6 July, celebrating the 75th anniversary of the drivers’ world championship in a mid-20th-century British home setting.

The ‘F1 75 Years in Motion’ pop-up will offer vintage merchandise for sale, though the selection does not include the tweeds and leather boots preferred by Autosport’s John Bolster. Visitors can enjoy displays of eccentric clothing choices, including a vintage Benetton x Autopolis jacket and team jackets from Canon Williams and Ferrari/Magneti Marelli dating back to the 1990s.

Notable items for collectors include a Ferrari Sport Support Satin jacket featuring intricate embroidery, a vintage Caesars Palace Grand Prix jacket with distinctive Las Vegas imagery, and accessories such as a 1974 Heuer Silverstone watch and a Cavalline desk clock inspired by Niki Lauda’s helmet. The F1 x Peanuts collection, commemorating the 75th anniversary of Peanuts in 2025, showcases pieces illustrated with Snoopy as a grand prix driver by creator Charles Schulz in the 1960s.

As F1’s chief commercial officer Emily Prazer highlighted, “75 Years in Motion” at Selfridges is a curated tribute to Formula 1’s rich legacy, blending vintage charm with modern relevance to showcase the sport’s cultural influence through art, collectibles, and fashion over the years.
