Lamborghini not concerned over Le Mans reliability despite rain-interrupted test
During the three-day testing in Portimao, the track was predominantly wet as reported by Lamborghini and Iron Lynx team principal Andrea Piccini, ahead of the World Endurance Championship double-points round. Despite the challenging conditions, the new Lambo SC63 showcased promising reliability during its debut appearances in the WEC and IMSA championships. Piccini emphasized the team’s focus on improving the performance of the car, having demonstrated solid reliability in previous long-distance races. The SC63 achieved commendable finishes in its initial races, reinforcing confidence in its capabilities. The hectic WEC schedule leading up to Le Mans limits the opportunity for additional endurance tests, with the team now prioritizing preparations for the upcoming races. Despite the track conditions, the Portimao test provided valuable insights for the team, with a notable presence of Lamborghini’s LMDh drivers evaluating the car’s performance. Plans to field the IMSA car alongside the regular WEC entry have been abandoned to focus on maximizing resources for the upcoming challenges.
