Hamlin "a long way from where I need to be" after shoulder surgery
On November 22nd, Joe Gibbs Racing announced that Denny Hamlin had undergone successful surgery on his right shoulder. This is not the first time Hamlin has experienced shoulder issues, as he had a bone spur in his left shoulder a few years ago. However, the recovery from this surgery is taking longer than expected. Hamlin revealed during the NASCAR Awards banquet that the surgery was planned but ended up being worse than anticipated. He mentioned that he had initially injured his shoulder during Las Vegas week and continued to worsen the damage throughout the season. Hamlin indicated that the issue is genetic and not racing-related, and it may affect his preparations for the 2024 season. He also cast doubt on his participation in the pre-season Clash at the L.A. Memorial Coliseum in February.
