Petrucci misses out on top five treble after “breaking the gearbox sensor”
After achieving two fifth place finishes in Race 1 and the Superpole Race, Petrucci aimed for a better result in the final race of the weekend. He was the fastest rider in the group competing for positions outside the podium and was preparing to overtake Andrea Locatelli for P4 when he encountered issues with his gearbox sensor. Petrucci’s performance since Misano has been consistently impressive, placing him as one of the top Independent riders alongside Axel Bassani. Reflecting on his weekend, Petrucci expressed satisfaction with the top five finishes in both races and acknowledged the advantage of his starting position for Race 2. Despite a poor start in the final race, he managed to make up several positions but ultimately finished in P5 due to a broken gearbox sensor. While Petrucci had a strong showing, Bassani faced challenges throughout the weekend, including a heavy crash in FP1 and technical issues in FP2, which limited his track time. However, Bassani redeemed himself on Sunday by achieving top ten finishes in both races. Looking ahead to Aragon, Bassani hopes for a better start to the weekend, as he had a difficult start at the previous round but concluded with a successful Sunday performance.
