Leadership Exodus: High-profile Departures Continue to Shake FIA Foundation

The trend of high-level departures from the FIA has continued, with the director of communications and public affairs and the secretary general of automobile mobility and tourism heading out the door.

Two more senior officials, Luke Skipper and Jacob Bangsgaard, have resigned from the FIA, adding to a string of departures within the past year. Skipper, who served as director of communications and public affairs, had a background in Scottish politics before joining the FIA in 2022. Bangsgaard, the secretary general of automobile mobility and tourism, founded the European Policy Research before taking on his role with the FIA in May 2023.

Their resignations come after other notable figures, including Deborah Mayer, Steve Nielsen, Tim Goss, Edward Floydd, Pierre Ketterer, and Natalie Robyn, left their positions at the FIA. The recent string of departures coincides with increased scrutiny on FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem. Ben Sulayem recently made headlines for his calls to reduce swearing in F1 and his public criticism of his treatment by the British media.
